Spice Board Registration is a compulsory requirement for individuals or businesses engaged in the export of spices and spice-based products from India. It is issued by the Spices Board of India, a statutory body under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, responsible for the development and worldwide promotion of Indian spices.
This registration is known as the Certificate of Registration as Exporter of Spices (CRES) and is mandatory under the Spices Board Act, 1986. Exporters dealing with spices such as black pepper, cardamom, turmeric, cumin, chili, coriander, and value-added spice products must obtain this license. It ensures that the exported products meet international quality and safety standards and promotes traceability in the supply chain. To obtain the registration, applicants must submit business documents like PAN, GST, Import Export Code (IEC), bank details, and processing unit information (if applicable). Once approved, the CRES remains valid for a lifetime, with provisions for updates and modifications as needed.
